Mediation

How we can help you:

Family law mediation is a confidential, cost-effective, and swift (when compared to litigation) method of resolving family law disputes. At Blores Family Solicitors, we are members of Resolution and therefore committed to, in the first instance, attempting to resolve family disputes in a non-litigious manner. Mediation provides you with the opportunity to reach a settlement without the cost and stress associated with court proceedings.

Based in Henley-on-Thames, we have over 30 years’ of experience in family law and specialise in complex, high-net-worth, and/or international matters. Our solicitors will manage the mediation process for you, answering any questions you have and ensuring you are fully prepared before every session.

Our founding partner, Siân Blore is highly experienced, empathetic, and determined when it comes to protecting the interests of our clients and their children. We will take the time to listen to what you want to achieve from mediation and work meticulously to attain your objectives.

Siân has strong links with local mediators and if you decide mediation could be for you, she will recommend a suitable mediator and you can be confident that she will also be available throughout the process to assist with any queries which arise.

Below are the answers to some frequent questions regarding mediation.

A mediation information and assessment meeting (MIAM) is a pre-mediation event in which a mediator will discuss with you what mediation is and whether or not it is a suitable dispute resolution method for your case.

Unless you are exempt, for example, if there is a history of domestic abuse throughout your relationship, you will have to attend a MIAM and receive a form signed by the mediator stating that mediation is an unsuitable solution to resolve your dispute before you can proceed to court.

Most people do not have a solicitor attend mediation sessions, however, we can help organise the mediation for you and advise you on all your options, so you feel confident and prepared for the sessions.

Family mediation is a voluntary, private, non-confrontational method of resolving family law disputes. A professional mediator facilitates sessions to help attendees work out their differences. It is a highly effective method of dispute resolution and often helps family members learn to communicate better in the long term.

Mediation puts you in control as you, along with the other party or parties to the dispute, decide the terms on which to reach a resolution.

In mediations concerning children, if it is appropriate and agreed by their parents, the mediator can speak to the child and relay their views.
